The first element this story displays is how the BBC treats any within its ranks who raise complaints about the corporation - but only when it perceives the one raising the complaint is expendable. Unlike the case with Chris Moyles.
The second is the mealy mouthed excuse they give for not putting the complainant in the programme that they had already indicated she would be doing. It really shows the contempt they have for the public as well as their staff.
The presenter Selina Scott had written to the BBC Trust about her perceptions of ageism bias within the BBC for women. Though they had indicated she would be selected to do a certain documentary about Scott of the Antarctic, when they found out about her 'ageist' criticism here's the excuse they gave to pull her out of it
Of course Scott is a very rare name, so it's understandable that they would think so

Selina Scott may have been allowed back to the BBC last week to read the news for Chris Evans on Radio 2, but the corporation seems determined to hide her from television viewers.
Mandrake hears that the broadcaster was approached about presenting a landmark programme to commemorate the centenary of Captain Robert Falcon Scott's doomed race to the South Pole.
However, her appointment was allegedly vetoed after she compiled a dossier on the "malign sexism and ageism'' at the BBC.
"Selina is very disappointed," says one of her friends. "She has studied Capt Scott's trek and was delighted when the BBC asked her to present the documentary and she made plans to be in Antarctica throughout January. When she was told that senior executives had stopped from getting the job, she was very disheartened.
"She appreciates that her work on trying to help the BBC improve its treatment of women and older employees may have ruffled a few feathers, but she thought that, as a public service broadcaster, executives would be big enough to take the criticism on the chin. Sadly, she seems to have been mistaken."
BBC sources confirm that she was approached about the documentary, in which she would have followed in Capt Scott's footsteps to the South Pole.
Amusingly, they claim that they did so because they thought she was related to the explorer, who died in 1912, aged 43. When they discovered that she was not, they approached other potential presenters.
"That is absolute rubbish," says Scott's friend. "She was never asked once about any family links."
Scott, 59, sent her dossier on sexism and ageism at the corporation to Sir Michael Lyons, the outgoing chairman of the BBC Trust, in July. She said she believed that it would trigger "nothing short of a revolution within Television Centre".
During her time at the BBC, she launched the Breakfast Time programme and was one of the corporation's star names. Its spokesman says: "It's too early to talk about details of a programme that hasn't yet gone into production."
Scott declines to comment.
