This is an absolute must see for all the frustration and rage we have been made to feel at BBC reportage. A BBC journalist, John Sweeney, is doing a programme on uncovering any dirt he can muster on scientology. At one point he totally loses his cool and this is the result Among other things it shows the arrogance that BBC staff have in their self-estimation of their power. Those interested can read Sweeney's explanation for his behaviour, and attempt to discredit scientology as much as possible here.

The thought of a BBC journalist squirming has really made my day. The Telegraph has an article on this story today

The Panorama programme presented by Sweeney trying to prove that scientology is a cult revealed a few other things. This is one time that the BBC did not get the points across that they wanted, and were in fact exposed themselves for the bigoted biased organisation that they really are. Politicians, church leaders and private individuals can learn lots from the counter exhibited by Tommy Davis, the scientology leader, who really tore Sweeney a new a-hole. Sweeney himself remarked following an exchange where Davis (again) got the better of him, "the Church of England doesn't behave like this". Well the C of E leaders have long since laid down and all but died in their responses to the BBC, they'd do well to take lessons from Davis. While I have little to say one way or the other on scientology, I would say that the BBC's attempt to discredit them, has in fact probably increased their numbers tenfold. Without a doubt, Davis showed himself far more powerful and in control than the mealy mouthed Sweeney. To see the programme, and it's well worth it to see the BBC humiliated big time, click here which should be active for the next week.

Wow John Travolta is spearheading a Scientologists' attack on BBC "Angry Scientologists are trying to get a BBC documentary about their faith scrapped amid claims of 'gross bias' by presenter John Sweeney." My feeling is that it will increase their numbers by thousands at the very least. Obviously Travolta is not aware that he's describing the whole of the BBC and not just Sweeney above Travolta spearheads Scientologists' attack on BBC

This is what the BBC and Panorama like to get away with, and what they would have done with the Scientologists:

An excellent related article in The Times today talks about "the cult of the self-righteous “crusading” journalist", of which as we know the BBC has many - but only on soft targets - like Israel, USA, you know - the civilised world.

Good article alright. No need for me to wonder who's more dangerous.
Isn't it something tho how they can have a complete disconnect not recognizing their sentiment towards radical Islam.

I think that's the point that AL was making in the 'weather' topic. By being impartial on the 'unimportant' issues, as least as far as the BBC is concerned, which might be 90% of the time, when they stray on the other 10% - and the ones that other lives depend on, they have already convinced themselves they are fair.
