The Telegraph runs a story today highlighting the absurdity of the BBC spending £18m to open a new Gaelic speaking TV station, while axing a programme that has actually contributed to the freeing of 15 people who were wrongly imprisoned, in an effort to save money. Almost certainly, all the Gaelic speakers that will be served by the new service can also speak English and enjoy (if that is the case) regular programming. But a programme that has really served the public, and dramatically changed the lives of those affected, is to be axed. Shows the priorities of the BBC.
