It appears that whats his face pulls his arm down to his side when the other one is approaching to not shake his hand. Sorry if I was being vague I have no interest what so ever in football. This was passed on to me on the basis that the manchester united player was actually avoiding shaking hands also you can see the stare which is not so evident in the other more widely shown shot.

For me, football is an example where the media were instrumental in ruining what otherwise was a good sport. I think too that our society degraded itself by pandering to it. I have as much interest in it as I have for the non-culture of 'celebrities', which is a strong aversion.
