Don’t just moan do something about BBC Bias against Christianity!
The BBC has been criticised for either not representing minorities or for representing them unfairly.
Since early November the BBC has had a consultancy survey on their website seeking opinions on this issue.
However, this seems to have escaped the attention of Christians. It is imperative that we should let the BBC know our views, as other minorities most certainly will do so (and as Christians we are a minority).
For example; In BBC drama Christians are either not represented at all, or if they are ... they tend to be depicted as dogmatic and unsympathetic people, or as weak and washy. In news and current affairs the BBC is sympathetic to a ‘liberal’ attitude, both liberal in ‘theology’ and ‘morality’.

This is a great find DJ, even if it's the eleventh hour

How typical for the BBC to bury it so that the majority of the 'diverse' views they seek will not be represented.

Anyway I've included most of the questions asked below, and my personal answers (Italicised). The questions at the end are of a personal nature but nothing about one's identity.

Notice how they phrase the questions in many cases that assumes their manner of procedure is correct. This way it makes it appears that anybody replying agrees with their objective.

Do you have views on what the BBC should be doing about equality and diversity?

We want to make the best programmes that offer something to everyone and that reflect the diversity and reality of different people's lives.

For us, thinking about, including and reflecting our diversity helps us tell the most original and compelling stories.

Whenever we develop new services or channels, we will make sure that everyone is able to access and enjoy them.

To help us achieve those aims, we want a workforce that is as diverse as modern Britain.

We have developed a plan that sets out what we want to do to achieve that and how we are going to do it.

We are carrying out audience research for an understanding of what the public think about our direction.

We also want to hear from people directly about your views on our approach.

In this consultation survey we will ask you a series of questions highlighting the most important parts of our strategy.

Thank you for your contribution. The closing date for this consultation is 7th January 2011. Once we have considered the findings from the research and the consultation process we will finalise the diversity strategy and publish it in April 2011.

In this section, we would like to understand your view towards the BBC and any specific equality and diversity issues the BBC is perceived to have.

What are your expectations of the BBC in contributing to creating an equal society?
It is not the job of the BBC to create a society that IT considers equal. It's job is to be fair, balanced and impartial in its news reporting, and to provide quality intelligent programming within its remit. It is then up to the members of society to form their own views based on their own intelligence.

What is your perception of how well the BBC is currently doing in contributing to an equal society?

Please explain why you feel this way

The BBC was formed by an already fair society with a clear cut vision on what would be achieved by adhering to the mandate created for it. The fact that the BBC thinks it needs to create an equal society shows the arrogance and attitude within, believing themselves to be above the rest.
Simply put - You don't think you're equal - you think you're above, but you'll condescend to 'create' equality for the rest of us.

How well do you think the BBC portrays different people in society on TV, on radio and online? (for example, but not limited to, a range of different ages, people of different ethnicities, disabled people, those who are less well-off as well as those who are more well-off.)

Please explain why you feel this way

The very fact that when the BBC shows either a Conservative, Catholic, Israeli, AGW Sceptic, Christian, or the like in a positive light it is a remarkable event and a huge contrast to how these elements are displayed on a day to day basis. Your own prejudices are very much evident in your daily bias, which means you fail to do the job for which you are paid to do.

To what extent do you agree or disagree that the BBC is a fair and inclusive organisation?

Please explain why you feel this way
I've already given examples of certain groups that are treated negatively by the BBC on a regular basis, so as to create the impression on the public that this is the right way to regard these groups. Yet other groups that are favoured by the BBC left-wing mindset are presented as 'the right kind'. It is not the job of the BBC to use this medium to promote their own agenda, but to seek to be TRULY fair and inclusive, and leave the rest up to people's FREE choice - not enduring propaganda.

What do you think is the most pressing equality and diversity issue for the BBC?
To address it's own internal bias and seek to fulfil its mandate as laid out for it.

In our plan we have six equality objectives which will drive everything we do in this area. We have summarised them below and for each one, we'd like you to indicate the extent to which you agree or disagree with the objective.

We will talk to a range of different types of people so we're more aware of what they like, want and need when developing new content and services

So long as you take YOUR OWN awareness of what you like, want and need out of your determinations as to what you choose to finally develop. That you fairly include those whose views may differ from your own.

We will make quality programmes making sure they reflect modern Britain accurately

So long as you do it with the range of REAL modern Britain and not just the elements you prefer to focus on.

Whenever we develop new services or channels, we will make sure that everyone is able to access and enjoy them

If you also include DIFFERENT MINDSETS! Not just by advertising in the Guardian as you normally do.

Again, different because of mindset too, not just different in terms of colour or ethnicity but merely parrot the left-wing mindset so evident at the BBC at present.

Do you think there is anything missing in our plans?
That you look within and recognize your own internal left-wing mindset. Then purposefully seek to balance this with those who look at the world and events differently, and see other real causes and solutions. This is REAL DIVERSITY.
