When I first heard about this story in Brazil where a 23 year old man killed 13 schoolchildren, wounding many more, before finally killing himself, I had a feeling there might be a Muslim connection, but reading the articles in various news organisations there was no mention of it, so I left it at that.
Today reading the Telegraph I read this snippet In the rambling suicide note left at the scene, de Oliveira said he wanted to be buried in a white sheet he had left in a bag at the school. "The impure cannot touch me without gloves," he said. which again made me suspect the Muslim angle.
So I searched the net and I see that there is indeed one, and it is being reported freely in Brazil, though the UK media, and of course the BBC, prefer to bury that part of the story.
Since clearly its relevant to understand the motive of this deranged murderer, one has to realise what the media are doing here by purposefully omitting this detail.
Here first is the Google translated version from a Sao Paolo newspaper, notice the headline makes the Muslim connection very clear.
In the BBC version they omit any mention of the murderers sister. what they do mention about the suicide note is only this:
Did you think you were living in a free society? Think again!

Sister shooter says he was connected to Islam and did not leave too far from home, he left suicide note
In an interview with Radio Band News from Rio de Janeiro, Roselane, the foster sister of the shooter Wellington Menezes de Oliveira, 24, said he was very attached to Islam, do not go far from home and stayed the entire time on the computer.
"There were several shots, guys asking for help, getting desperate mothers," said neighbor of the college
Ease with which the gunman invaded school teachers leaves Rio on standby
"It was very strange, had no friends, lived on the Internet," said his sister. "He speaks of a Muslim business." She said he lived alone for eight months, at a place near the school in the district of the Royal one. The boy's adoptive parents have died.
Oliveira, who was an alumnus of the school and would have gone to school to get documents, invaded early on Thursday (7) a classroom of the school hall Tasso da Silveira, at Rua General Bernardino de Matos, Realengo zone west of Rio de Janeiro. He fired several times against the students.
According to the Fire Department, 22 people were injured, 10 seriously, and at least 13 people died including the gunman. According to the Military Police, he shot himself in the head. He would have used .38-caliber revolver. Two guns were used.
In an interview with Globo News, Colonel Djalma Beltrame, commander of 14 Battalion (Bangor), confirmed that Oliveira left a letter indicating that he intended to kill himself. "It was a premeditated act," said Beltrame.
According to the colonel, the letter was "confusing" and submit content "Islamic fundamentalist".

A rambling suicide note was found on the killer's body.
In it, he gave no motive for the killings, but left detailed instructions on how he wanted to be buried.
Police say Menezes de Oliveira destroyed his home computer before the attack to conceal how he had planned it.
People who knew him described him as a quiet man with no friends who spent a lot of time on the internet.
