What comes to mind if you had to be totally reliant on public transport? Perhaps you already are, for whatever reason, then I ask you, what is life like for you? Are there times you avoid travelling, or places you no longer go - and why?
I remember as a teenager back in the 60's, after midnight and having missed the last bus, walking home across London past the (even then) seedy area of Kings Cross to the East End where I used to live. I don't recall ever feeling fear doing it, or feeling threatened in anyway. It's certainly nothing I would ever entertain doing in today's London, or pretty much any other city in Britain.
So in thinking, what does driving mean to me, besides the ease and freedom, and sometimes enjoyment, it affords, it's also a kind of security, and I believe most people would agree with me. I also can't see how I would be able to play golf if I was reliant on public transport, even assuming there was any to my local golf course, seeing the equipment I need to take with me.
Today I just happened to catch the intro for 'You and Yours' on Radio 4 at midday. Just the announcer asking 'would we be willing to give up our vehicle for the greater good?', told me exactly what tone the BBC was going to pursue, and the bias contained in it.
Firstly it already presumes that giving up our vehicles IS for the greater good. Who made that decision? It comes to mind that the only time BBC staff give up their vehicles is when they can charge a taxi on expenses.
I'm quite happy using public transport for those journeys it makes more convenient, though I note how more and more expensive it has become - rather defeating at least part of the point of the exercise.
I wasn't able to listen to the programme at the time, but decided this evening to see if it matched my expectation. It was even worse - just about as blatant and ridiculous a bias as you could imagine.
The website has these details for the programme:
You can see it ticks all the EU dictatorial - Climate Change - Show how the BBC cares about the environment when it's the general public that has to suffer, buttons that the BBC like to press. You can listen to the programme yourself to see just how it was covered, and just who the 'experts' that the BBC used to justify their stance and counter the few dissenters that were given any airtime at all.
The very fact that the BBC or their experts doesn't seem to have a real clue as to why people drive, and the ideas that they consider good as the way of addressing any solution are typical of left wing idiots. They seem to think for example that they can model Liverpool after Basel in Switzerland - just like that.
Listen to it yourself and feel free to comment below. It's really worse than I've explained.
Pity there's no 'vomit' icon on this website.

Cast your mind forwards by nearly forty years...can you imagine the centre of Europe's main cities being car free? That's what an EU white paper is recommending...no petrol or diesel powered vehicles allowed, just electric or so-called greener ones? All by 2050. Practical in your mind....desirable....where do you stand on our love affair with our cars? Is it a relationship we need to take a long look at in the years to come?
