This is my first post, I usually don’t comment on such forums but im pleased to have found such a website to vent my frustration at the BBCs bias and censorship of popular opinions.
It’s been awhile now since the BBC removed their readers recommended feature of the “Have your Say” section of their site. This was just another example of how the BBC snubs the opinions of the majority.
I suspect the BBC re-structured their ‘Have your Say’ comments section to exclude the most popular comments as they tended to be too ‘right wing’ for their liking. Also they did not want to quote such popular views on television. The most recommended comments page was one of the few things going for their news website were you could find out what the general public really thinks. Even though heavily censored it was the only part of their site un-contaminated by their liberal-leftist bias.
The BBC has a problem with the general public expressing their views particularly when those views represent the opinions of the majority (or at least the most popular). Perhaps the BBC just has a different world view to the rest of us or maybe they are politically correct cowards scared of offending Islamists and other groups.
Regardless they seem to be liberal elitists who look down on the ordinarily man and women who they regard as uneducated and ignorant. This is what I despise about the BBC the most – their apparent intellectual snobbery.
I suggest if the BBC wishes to continue to receive money from the general public they should allow the general public to express their opinion – even if those opinions are popular!

Welcome Uni' I think you have nailed it as far as the reason why the BBC have re-structured their (Don't) Have Your Say section. They could also have named it 'Say what you like as long as you agree with us'. It shows really just how mainstream media can control what does become the public perception of 'popular opinion' which helps further whatever agenda they desire, regardless of the 'true' opinion of any particular subject. I don't think the BBC themselves are politically correct, as they don't mind offending anybody if they think it will serve them, but they certainly use the dynamic of political correctness to justify the way they control coverage of those they want to protect, which as you rightly identify among others include Islamists. Bear in mind that so long as they want to maintain offices in the various Islamic regimes around the world they have to suck up to Islam. One can debate whether it is really serves our society one way or the other for them to operate in those regimes, but I think they are mostly guided by their desire to rule the media world, and by extension 'all or most public opinion'. That's their power trip. Regarding I suggest if the BBC wishes to continue to receive money from the general public they should allow the general public to express their opinion – even if those opinions are popular! have you considered what exactly you would do if they don't? They know there is absolutely nothing you can do, unless you 'illegally' don't pay TVL which is why they launched their aggressive advertising campaign to scare people to continue to pay. Remember - 'GET ONE OR GET DONE'? Actually if you really don't want to pay there are ways around it, and I highly recommend this site to empower and inform you. If you think for a moment that any government will get rid of the BBC funding, think again. The BBC is the government tool to justify whatever policies they want implemented, which usually involve more taxes of one kind or the other. As an example, what do you think the bullshit surrounding 'global warming' is about? Feel free to vent your frustration on the BBC here, that's part of the reason we're here, as well as to wake up those who may not even be aware of how they're being duped and brainwashed.
