For the BBC it's the equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel under the guise of representing public opinion and concerns. To make sure they get the desired outcome they; 1. First make sure that their single right wing (token) panelist is 'balanced' with 3 or 4 left wingers (pronounced winge-ers), and that's not counting Dimbleby himself. 2. Ensure that the audience is predominantly left-wing by asking them on their application form if they supported the war in Iraq and deciding from there. 3. Select which questions will be asked of the panel. making sure that the views that the BBC wants to promulgate will be one of the issues. In todays programme, to patronize the special student audience, one of the panelists is Davina McCall, hostess of the Big Brother programme. An example of 'the depth' of this woman is highlighted by her response to the Israel/Palestine conflict in which "she hopes that one day they will all sit down and talk together to find a way to have peace". Surprisingly quite a few of the students were fairly well informed on various issues, and had clearly done independant research on some of the topics raised. This might give the BBC some cause for concern as they were not all following the propaganda line as much as the normal adult audience. Maybe there's hope in the future.

McCall sounds like she's perfectly qualified for an important position in the UN.
When's Ginger Spice's contract up, by the way?

Donal Blaney of 18 Doughty Street makes a similar observation on last night's Question Time. His comments can be seen here
