The Andrew Marr show was in typical form on Sunday. The paper review a model of political balance: one self-regarding leftie (Bakewell) being "balanced" by an even more self-regarding leftie (Mark Thomas). At one point Thomas was allowed to state that Lord Ashcroft was guilty of tax evasion and that therefore the tax payer was de fact supporting the cause of the Tory party in key marginals. Needless to say, Marr did not demur.
Astonishingly no mention was made of the Independent on Sunday poll which had the Tory lead increase from 7 points to 11 points. Doesn't fit the "narrowing of the polls" meme you see. I incline, albeit incrementally, to the view that were the lead to have gone the other way, from 7 points to 3 points, then the fact might -just possibly -have got a mention.

Welcome Moriarty - good post.
Just imagine, if the Independent quotes these figures from a poll they ran, the real increase must be significantly higher.
