How the BBC surreptitiously censors callers to phone-ins Midway through 2007 I discovered a strange thing. Try as I might I could not get through to BBC R5 phone-in programmes. The phone would ring and ring but it was never answered. This was very odd because I had never experienced such a problem before. I had the line checked and there was nothing wrong with it or the BBC line. From that I concluded that the most likely cause was the deliberate blocking of phone calls by the BBC. This turned out to be correct after I put in a Freedom of Information request asking whether the BBC was blocking calls and received a reply in which they admitted that telephone systems were used by the BBC which allowed them to mark any telephone number to identify it as a number not to be answered Read more at livinginamadhouse.wordpress.com/2010/10/02/how-the-bbc-surreptitiously-censors-callers-to-phone-in/

Welcome RH - I recommend everybody clicking on the link and reading the full post concerning how the BBC effectively block those voices they consider 'an opposing view' to their agenda. I presume it was your experience related here. Thanks for taking the time to investigate this particular aspect of BBC practices, and for posting it here. It occurs to me that could somebody be legally entitled to not pay their licence fee if they were blocked from using its full services? Wish there were more like you - keep them coming
