Contrast these two stories from the Sunday Times and the BBC about the recent findings of the husband of Tessa Jowell, our culture secretary, apparent acceptance of a bribe, and her complicity in helping to launder it. From the way the BBC puts it, you would never know why or what she has done that should concern a soul. What relevance putting their joint house up for mortgage has to do with his accepting a bribe. The Times however makes it all too clear. Bear in mind how much Jowell has been promoting maintaining the BBC licence fee and it's easy to understand why she rates such a soft hand by the Beeb. Imagine if it was Blunkett, would they have spelled it out a little more thoroughly and clearly? You bet! When will the public realise what's being foisted on them under the guise of democracy.

Looks like the noose is tightening on Jowell. This report from The Telegraph today. Jowell's job on line over mortgage link to bribeBy Toby Helm, George Jones and Neil Tweedie (Filed: 28/02/2006) Tessa Jowell was fighting to save her Cabinet job last night after Downing Street refused to confirm that Tony Blair believed she had abided by the code of conduct for ministers over a financial deal involving her London home.
The Prime Minister appeared to be distancing himself from his embattled Culture Secretary after Miss Jowell struggled to give a convincing explanation for the complex mortgage deal she entered with her husband, David Mills, an international lawyer. Meanwhile, the nations media - BBC, has not updated their previous report. Hopefully soon she'll have much more time to watch her beloved BBC.

Anyone who thinks that following Blairs' 'clearance' of Tessa Jowells' actions means she is starchy clean, should read this article in The Telgraph today, and the related links on the side of it. After all, following Blairs' wife, Cherie, and her tongue in cheek denial of knowing anything about the underhand dealings with regard to the con man who arranged for her to buy 2 flats, it's now standard procedure for these otherwise worldly women to use the phrase "we knew nothing really" when they come unstuck. Blair can hardly say anything else about Jowell after what he accepted with his wife. What a load of stinking crap that run this country. Blair fails to halt outcry over Jowell's home loans

Get this: Invited onto BBC's Today programme to make a ministerial statment to a grateful nation, Margaret Beckett put us all right. "This has nothing to do with the hapless Tessa. It's all the fault of the Press." Of course, it would have to the BBCs' Today programme. After all Tessas' doing for them in supporting their continued receiving of the license fee, they have to try and give her a clean bill of health. If you think there's no collusion, note Beckett said "press" and not 'media'. Also, synonyms for 'hapless' include miserable, misfortunate, pathetic, piteous, pitiable, pitiful, poor, wretched]She's going to have to suffer a LOT more before I feel she's hapless Tessa is a Tossa, and so are her cronies.
