In the car lunchtime today listening to World at One for about 10 minutes with the BBC obsessed and doing their best to ridicule Cameron. Apparently, either at the Tory Party Conference or PM Question time he had made the statement urging the public to do their best to settle outstanding credit card bills, to improve the state of financial health in the country. It would appear Britain has the worst individual debt of all the G20 countries. Okay it's not rocket science, and anybody managing their finances would surely be doing their best to minimise the interest accruing on outstanding credit card balances. Hardly 'headline news' and surely nothing to get worked up about. But it seems the BBC must have been hard up to find anything more to demonize Cameron about. So they were interviewing people on the street and questioning other politicians for their (mostly hostile) feedback on his statement. It's available to listen to again for the next 7 days here about 10-15 minutes in. I only wish Cameron would announce a £145 saving for everybody to help pay their debt by abolishing the licence fee, and then we'd see these slimy turds squirm.

Yes I heard / saw this story. So was the message that we should all put our spending out of control...because..err...that would just be like the last Labour Goverment.

It just occurred to me after reading your last post, that if the BBC wanted to criticize Cameron about anything, they had the perfect excuse of him reneging on putting the EU to a referendum. But since they prefer that he doesn't, they had to look around for something else to focus on.

What I cannot understand is why members of the government have to go crawling and grovelling to the b-bbc to explain trivial rubbish like cats and credit cards when there's far more important things to do.
Is there nobody in government who has the guts to stand up to the b-bbc and tell them straight that if they don't comply with the terms of their charter then they are going to pass legislation to make the payment of the licence fee voluntary.
Now that would rattle a few Imams and Grand Mufti Patten at Broadcasting House.

You mean like a strong leader, capable of independent thought and trusting of the intelligentsia of the country to support them instead of sucking up to the media? ;D
