Honest Reporting gives us this information on events in Israel this weekend - More than 130 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip at major population centers in southern Israel in the last two days.
On Friday, March 9, four people were wounded, one severely. On March 10, a mare was killed and a home near Ashdod was damaged by a direct rocket hit.
- In light of the ongoing rocket attacks, schools in many cities and towns in southern Israel are closed on Sunday, March 11.
- Areas targeted include Ashdod, Be’ersheba, Yavne, Netivot and Ashkelon, as well as the Eshkol and Shaar Hanegev regional councils.
- The Iron Dome system intercepted about 90% of the rockets fired at Be’ersheba, Ashdod and Ashkelon. The terrorist squads are launching their rockets from densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip, including Bet Lahiya, Jabaliya, Rafah, Gaza, and El-Bureij.
- Despite the rocket barrage, the Erez Crossing into Gaza is open for passengers and employees of international organizations. Kerem Shalom is open for the delivery of 200 truckloads from Israel into Gaza.
[/i] [/li][/ul] It then asks readers to determine how their media are reporting these facts with these points in mind; - Moral equivalence: Is the media distinguishing between pinpoint Israeli strikes against terrorists as opposed to indiscriminate Palestinian rocket attacks purposely targeting Israeli civilians?
- The “Cycle of Violence”: Despite this oft used description in the media, this is not a “cycle of violence”, which apportions equal responsibility and intent to both sides. In this case, as in previous conflict situations, Israel exercised its right to pre-emptive self-defense by targeting a terrorist squad planning a combined terror attack that was to take place via Sinai in the coming days.
- Chronological inversion: Where does your media coverage start? With the launching of missiles from Gaza or the Israeli response? If the focus is on Israeli air strikes, does this skew the coverage to present Israel as the aggressor?
[/u] [/li][li]A “Disproportionate Response“: Is Israel accused of overreacting or responding to Palestinian terrorist activity in a disproportionate manner? [/i][/li][/ul] It seems their third point (underlined) has really nailed the BBC, who have reinforced their original article from this Israel launches deadly air strikes on Gaza to this Israel launches fresh air strikes on Gaza But as we know, if Israel doesn't retaliate, as far as the BBC is concerned, there would never be a report about rockets fired from Gaza.

Your 'not paying the licence fee' will have a far greater long term effect than any complaint you might make, but kudos for trying that as well. Pity there aren't more doing the same as you. What do you think about a topic telling others on what basis you were able to outwardly refuse to pay, so that they could follow in your footsteps? Perhaps your solicitor would be happy to be named. Let me know what you think.
I think all the intelligentsia, of which I would class Archbishop Cranmer as one, are well aware of the BBC agenda, unfortunately so far it's not enough. But every little bit helps raise awareness.

Demanding money under false pretences is a crime Teddy and the b-bbc know that well. They blatantly flout the terms of their charter so there is absolutely no legal obligation to pay it.
They come away with crap about the illegality of not paying it but that's only to scare you.
Just tell them that if you receive any more demands (extortion) you'll take them to court and then they'll leave you alone.
It's important that as many people as possible are made aware of this and if enough people do it then maybe we'll get a change of direction from them.

I know when I put your points to the solicitor Trevor Asserson, who also runs BBC Watch, he didn't think your stance would work the same in England, as in Scotland. But if enough Scots can stop paying it might make the English sit up and take notice and look to follow suit (no pun intended).

So far watching the television is not a crime in Scotland and I'm sure the same is true in England.
But with the standard of politicians we have today the craven wretches would no doubt bow down to beeboid demands and turn it into law.

A few more issues related to this recent conflict and BBC coverage of it. Something to bear in mind the next time the BBC uses 'Palestinian Medics' to validate their death and injured tolls due to Israel strikes; Naturally this particular story does not receive mention by the BBC itself - try to guess why. Palestinians say Gaza boy dies of wounds Published March 14, 2012 Associated Press A Palestinian boy accidentally struck by a bullet when militants fired in the air during a funeral died of his injuries Wednesday, family members and witnesses said. Palestinian health official Adham Abu Salmia initially said that 8-year-old Barka al-Mugrahbi died of wounds sustained in an Israeli airstrike on Monday. Israel's military said it did not carry out a strike in the area then. The boy's relatives and witnesses later said the boy was marching in a funeral procession for a Gaza militant when he was struck in the head by an errant bullet. At the time, gunmen were firing in the air, they said. Since the boy was also in the procession when he was hit, the gunmen must have been in one of their tunnels when he fired. Here's the list of headlines for articles the BBC produced over the period of the recent conflict. Note nearly every one makes Palestinians the victim I try to imagine what the genuine response would be to anybody who killed their parents, then sought sympathy for the fact that they were now orphans. Somehow I believe a certain amount of ridicule would be 'normal'. Yet the BBC are happy to keep lavishing care and concern for the 'poor orphan' as evidenced here: 'Don't wait for Gaza genocide' Dr Mona El-Farra, vice president of the Red Crescent in Gaza, said that this is "not a war between two equal parties" and Israel is much stronger. She said that the Israeli air raids are continuous and targeting Gaza. The situation is "really horrible" in Gaza because these attacks come on top of shortage of medical supplies. "Don't wait until another genocide in Gaza" she said, "many people are dying". How can the interviewer refrain from suggesting "then maybe you should stop firing rockets at Israel to create this response"?

Thanks for that Teddy. On the link you gave to Associated Press somebody commented about a Pally funeral where a 'corpse' falls off the stretcher and miraculously climbs back on himself.
Heres the clip in all it's glory -
I've lost count of how many times the b-bbc have used stage managed pally propaganda stunts and passed it off as news.
This is deliberate deception and should be brought to book by the full force of the law.

It's so good I've got to paste it here Flat Fatima - Revolution In News PhotographyImprove your war footage and get Pulitzer-winning dramatic pictures with the moaning Flat Fatima™. Her classic heartbreaking posture will easily manipulate audiences into forming the desired opinion on any conflict. Laminated on 5mm thick corrugated plastic board Water resistant, durable for short term outdoor use Light weight, great for quick mounting in the ground No Photoshop required! Fits most popular models of travel bags. Waist and up - $19.99 Having learned of the growing trend at Reuters, BBC, and other progressive media to doctor photographs, stage events, and use choreographed footage in the best Pallywood traditions, researchers at Karl Marx Treatment center decided to make it even easier for news organization to re-educate their audiences and advance the Greater Good™. Following the Flat Gareth model, we chose a popular image of a peasant Arab woman bemoaning the loss of her humble abode after an Israeli bombing - or rather multiple humble abodes in various locations and on different days. Transporting a live talking elderly woman around the country and abroad for bemoaning sessions may be quite a drain on a successful photojournalist, we thought. Why can't we use the moaner's paper cutout instead? And thus Flat Fatima™ was born - laminated on a durable plastic board that can be folded and easily fits most popular models of travel bags.

The news today from Israel is this Rocket attacks continue despite ceasefire
Palestinian militants overnight continued to fire rockets and mortar shells at Israeli towns despite a ceasefire that was announced two days ago. Three Grad rockets were fired toward Be’er Sheva and Ofakim in southern Israel. This morning, after the Israel Air Force launched several strikes on the Gaza Strip overnight in response, Palestinian militants fired a rocket into southern Israel. The Iron Dome anti-missile battery shot down two of the Grads fired Wednesday night, while the third landed on open areas. After the rockets landed shortly before 07:00 pm local time, five southern cities – Be’er Sheva, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Kiryat Malakhi and Gan Yavneh – announced schools would remain closed today. Unsurprisingly, considering BBC's record on this conflict, no mention of this breach of the truce by the Palestinians has so far been reported. Yahoo news does post an article from AFP on their Mid-East page, even though this article does also tend to report what happened with the 'chronological inversion' typical of the BBC. Israel, Palestinians trade fire but truce holdsNo doubt the BBC is waiting for Israel to kill one of these militant terrorists before they report it with the headlines we have already seen.

Another travesty concerning this recent conflict involves a woman who works for the UN, who tweeted the following picture and blames Israel for killing this child in one of their air strikes. However it turns out this was a Reuters picture of a child from 2006, and she had sustained injuries after falling off a swing. Honest Reporting ran this story and tells us Khulood Badawi happens to work for the OCHA – the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs where, according to a UN Contact List, she works as an Information and Media Coordinator.
A Google search reveals that Badawi has a history of activism in a range of pro-Palestinian non-governmental organizations, some of them radical and politicized. While this background may not in itself disqualify her from a career with the UN, it is absolutely unacceptable that a UN employee working specifically on dissemination of information to the media and public tweets malicious and false information to libel Israel. We know how the BBC like to use medical sources and UN staff to validate Palestinian claims, just bear this story in mind when they do. Unsurprisingly there's no mention of this story on the BBC website, and I'll make a bet that there never will be. Honest Reporting are now running a petition to the UN to have their representative fired, especially as she hasn't even apologised for her actions. You can sign it here We demand the dismissal of Khulood Badawi

The story today from Gaza shows the Palestinians continuing to fire rockets at Israel, which has had to keep schools closed in the area again. This time Israel has refrained from counter attacks at the request of the Egyptians, to allow the 'ceasefire' to take effect. The only article running currently on the BBC Mid-East webpage is from yesterday which continues to portray both sides involved in attacks Israeli strikes and militant rockets test Gaza truceClearly for the BBC it's only news when they can present the 'poor victim' Palestinians as being under attack.

Just to show that BBC journalists are really twisted as to what takes place first between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza, there is an article today following an attack near the Egyptian border, where 3 militants and one Israeli soldier were killed. The journalist Jonathan Marcus, writes Israel's options in responding to Friday's attack are constrained, reports BBC defence correspondent Jonathan Marcus.
In the past it has chosen to attack Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, prompting rocket fire on Israel in return. But an Israeli strike into Egyptian territory is almost certainly ruled out; such a step could send already delicate Israel-Egypt ties into a downward spiral, our correspondent says.So this writer would have you believe that despite Israel pulling all of the Jews out of Gaza, many families that had been living there for hundreds of years, to give Palestinians there an independent territory, they began attacking them first before being bombarded by rockets. Believe it or not, this is the BBC's defence correspondent, and somebody who is supposed to know the goings on in this part of the world. Be afraid - be very afraid.
