One of the most disingenuous claims made by the media is "that we are giving people what they want". In fact, the media subtly, or not so subtly, creates a desire on much of the impressionable public to want a particular thing.
Given their immense power to shape minds, and therefore the society we live in, it should be a great concern to responsible members of our society to assess the value and direction that the media is moving it towards.
We cannot expect our government officials to do this for us because they rely on the media to present them in a favourable light - the downside of a democracy. The only weapon and tool we have at the moment is sharing our awareness, and trying to raise that of others to counter the effect where it is corrupt or negative. The more people that are aware, the greater pressure that can be put to politicians to take on the power of the media where it can be judged so.
Most people realise that any media organisation or company will be influenced by the particular political or commercial slant of the owners, or the advertisers who provide their profit. Because the BBC operates under a public charter, funded by the society it is sworn to serve, with the punishment by fine or imprisonment for any TV watcher who fails to pay their license fees supporting this media mogul, then any deviation from their remit, especially if its intentional, is a crime of the highest corruption.
Let us be clear on this; The BBC is paid for and supported by a democratic society. We therefore expect AND DEMAND of them to judge events around the world by our values and standards. Fair and balanced reporting is required, but within the judgements that we have built our society upon, otherwise why do we need them?
Given their ‘public service’ remit, few people would entertain the idea that the BBC would have any motive or reason to do anything else but fulfil it. Therefore, if they are guilty of bias or generating propaganda, then this will have greater impact and sway than a private or commercial enterprise. This has not gone unnoticed by many tyrants and totalitarian regimes around the world, who have discovered that if they can get the BBC to produce their desired propaganda, then they will gain a greater degree of acceptance than otherwise.
There are numerous souls, here and around the world, that have made the effort to research certain stories, or have direct experience of certain events that are being reported by the BBC, but in a deeper or more thorough manner, and have found a clear and consistent bias to their reportage. By observing and recording this bias we can better estimate the purpose and intent of this bias, and the motives behind it.
Plausible motives are financial gain, political sway, or simply the egotistical self-serving status of being the largest media organisation in the world. Point is, if they have ceased to serve our society to achieve any of this, THEN WE MUST WORK TO BRING THEM DOWN BEFORE THEY DO IT TO US.

Power Corrupts; Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely

Update - August 2015
Since this website started over 10 years ago we have detailed the numerous instances showing the clear bias and agenda of the BBC in complete defiance of their charter. Those areas where we observe this agenda most have been individually categorized to make it easy for anybody wishing to find subject matter according to their needs. The search engine on this website is also an excellent tool to find specific stories related to finding the information they require, and is easy to use.
Enough has been recorded already to convince any moral and ethical being of the insidious nature of the BBC. That it is still able to demand payment from every household in this country speaks volumes about successive governments we have had. If there was no more material added here from today there would still be too many travesties showing how unfit for purpose the BBC truly is. Therefore this site will function more now as an archive for material on this subject.
