It may only be a small item, but every Sunday there is a programme on BBC One Wales called The Wales Report with Hugh Edwards which is described as The broadcaster confronts decision makers. Last evening (28.iv.13) the first item (available to listen again here) was the proposal to limit Legal Aid. There were three interviewees - the first was a man who had used legal aid in getting compensation for a serious medical error which resulted in his daughter being badly brain damaged. He said he could not have done that representing himself. The other two interviews were with a barrister and a solicitor, both of whom said that cutting legal aid was a terrible idea, in that it would make life difficult for lawyers, and "therefore deny justice" to some people who were currently their clients. The solicitor went so far as to claim that "many" of his clients "cannot read". Clearly this was not confronting the decision makers and gave a totally lawyer-oriented biased anti-government view.

Their bias is so blatant it's a wonder how people aren't getting more aware of it. There's basically 4 types of programmes they do. - 1. One where they can really run their agenda, including news, such as the one you described.
- 2. An 'entertainment' show that they can make innuendos and run their agenda in a more subtle manner.
- 3. A highbrow topic where they can show just how sophisticated and high level they must be to be discussing things like that. The inference being that if they can understand stuff like that, they had better be followed on issues where their agenda is being put forward.
- 4. Then there's snooker. They haven't figured out how to use it for their agenda yet, but in the meantime they save lots of money covering this for days with the minimum of staff, so they can avoid spending on more costly programmes and output, and give themselves more money.
I heard about 10 minutes today of Womens Hour. They had a female producer of Have I Got News For You, and Jane Garvey, the Womens Hour presenter, was doing her best to embarrass her about why she had never picked Jenni Murray, the co-presenter of Womens Hour, to also appear on the programme. It's worth a listen to in the opening part of the programme to hear just what an unashamed self promotion it truly is. They keep getting away with it, so it just gets worse.
