BBC:THE NEW MINISTRY OF TRUTH

This is an SOS message to our friends across the internet - the BBC is now The Ministry of Truth as in George Orwell's 1984. The organisation must be rejected by the servants of truth and justice everywhere. BBC journalists must now be seen as UK government information officers. You cannot rely on them to portray a truthful account of events - especially domestic events in the UK.

BBC political coverage has become bland, sanitised, government propaganda. For too long we have been listening to BBC broadcasters who know it all and are always right. They all seem to believe in the same kind of social utopia and are smug, arrogant and sometimes surprisingly ignorant.

Far from immigrants living parallel lives in Britain, it is BBC domestic journalists & broadcasters that do not report the unvarnished truth from the streets of the UK. In Leeds and Bradford, for example, local people refuse to give interviews with BBC journalists because of the poor standard of reporting.

British leaders want citizens to believe in a new corporate (soviet) utopia. In support of this the BBC has brought down a new Iron curtain in the UK. Everyone's future is in the hands of apparatchiks from big business, big government and big corporate journalism. If this was the will of the people then fine, but it is not. The political mandate in the UK is very thin – Hitler got a higher share of the vote in 1935 than the ruling party in the UK did in 2004.

The BBC’s political position should always be to support democracy by helping the smaller, weaker opposition parties get their messages across. Instead of this it throws all its weight & influence behind the government’s agenda and this shuts down important debates on issues that matter to ordinary people. This is a major factor in the so-called democratic deficit in the UK.

Freedom loving people across the world can see what is happening and we need their support to help the UK from decaying into a soviet republic. I stopped paying the license fee about 1 year ago and have now stopped listening to BBC radio, after 20 years. I don’t trust it anymore – it is too prejudiced against America and apologises too much for terrorism and crime.

Take Radio 5 live for example - they will show little sympathy or interest in the victim of a violent crime. Most of the programme will be devoted to discussing the needs of perpetrators & what can be done to help them. Equally, those with ‘extreme’ political views are treated with contempt & will rarely even be interviewed. The presenters believe they care about their listeners but compared to shows on independent stations BBC programmes show a middle-class distaste towards ordinary people & their problems.

Fortunately, the UK independent news sector is vibrant & full of broadcasters not afraid to speak their mind. ITN and Sky news are still independent of government. Long may that continue and let us all hope that Britain’s soviet utopia phase will be short lived.

There is obviously going to be a dependancy from both government and the BBC on each other. The government needs the BBC to present their views in a favourable light to appeal to the public whose votes they require, and the BBC needs the government to continue funding it through the license fee. Could it be the tail wagging the dog? By which I mean, might there be policies put forward by government knowing it will appeal to the BBC's own agenda? It is clear that the BBC possesses one, as evidenced most strikingly over the Iraq war, which the BBC was not in favour of.
I'd agree that the BBC will promote the government where it doesn't go against the desired strategy of the BBC, regardless of any inherent or lack of wisdom in it merely to secure the license fee.

They seem to be deliberately stirring up anti-islamic hatred and also religious hatred. Today on Radio 5 live they were interviewing a young child about racial issues.

How did you come to that conclusion? I don't see the connection from what you've written above, can you elaborate please?
From what I've seen the BBC have bent over backwards to appease Muslims - in this country - or anywhere in the world for that matter. Which is why they don't even refer to Islamic terrorists by that term.

A direct example of this center’s on the first bus bombing in London. It took place barely half a mile from the BBC’s central London headquarters and for a day or so they, the Guardian, and even Reuters all seemed to suddenly discover the words terrorism and terrorist.

But soon after they slowly reverted to old habits, both on air and on line, subtly and retroactively altering initial texts about the bombs on both British and international websites. Unfortunately for them, however, previous versions of their webpages remained easily accessible to all on Google, and enterprising British bloggers.

This falls in line with their practices reporting about bombs on public transport in Israel, bombs which in some cases were even worse than those in London since some were specifically aimed at children and most were packed with nails, screws, glass and specially-sharpened metal shards in order to maximize injuries - terms like guerrilla, militant, activist or fighter are used.

Sympathetic accounts are a mainstay for the likely perpetrators, explaining to viewers that we must understand their grievances. All under ridiculous and agenda-setting 'Producer’s Guidelines.'

I agree pretty much with your last post, and posted something similar on the subject in another topic here. So I'm still confused as to why you first accused the BBC of stirring up anti-Islamic and religious hatred, as what you've now written would show the opposite, at least as far as Islam is concerned. If anything they bend over backwards to appease them.

here's how.

Instead of dealing with the non-ethnic, non-religious issues of terrorism and criminality, the BBC is singling out ethnic & religious groups for special treatment.

If special allowances are made for one group this creates resentment towards the group by other disadvantaged groups in society. This inequality will drive sectarianism.

What makes the BBC editorial policy a threat to peaceful co-existence is this particular group follow a traditional literal religion and they see appeasement by those around them as weakness. They will thus be encouraged to push for more concessions until their advantages are so entrenched that the community will have a very justified grievance against the situation.

Now can you see my point?

After the met's chief anti-terrorist person explained the detailed international activities of a terrorist the BBC reported the following after the interview.

"....mr so and so, who, Scotland yard claims was a global terrorist..."

The use of the word 'claims' is not accurate. The man was today sentenced in a British court for 15 years and the judge is writing to the government saying he wanted to give him a life sentence.

Before the apparachicks from the ministry of truth took over editorial policy would have described such a person, if they had been convicted, as a 'convicted global terrorist'.

In spite of the conviction Scotland yard are, according to the ministry of truth, only claiming this man is a global terrorist.

Gotcha!
My confusion over your statement sprang from saying that they are "deliberately stirring up anti-islamic hatred", and while I agree that they are, it is inadvertant and not deliberate. Like most liberals, they don't see far enough ahead to realise what their policies will create.

Welcome Brummy - Naturally I agree with you, and occasionally various tabloid newspapers do show them up. Feel free to share what you perceive that the BBC does get away with, and what you find so shocking.
