An Arab in Jerusalem grabbed the pistol of an Israeli security guard, shoots him, and while others pursue him, 9 more people are wounded before the gunman himself is shot and killed.
First off, the BBC headline simply reads Gunman dies in Jerusalem shootout, you don't know it's an Arab till later in the article, which some would say is fairly important to the context of the story.
Then comes 2 paragraphs telling of the incident, before this:
Now does anybody else find it strange to insert this into the middle of an article about an Arab in an unprovoked attack shooting Israelis? If you think this offers some context for the attack, then only in the world of BBC propaganda, but not in factual history.
When Israel was established by the UN in 1948, the whole of Jerusalem was supposed to have been an international city. It was in fact seized by Jordan in the war of Independance until captured by Israel in 1967.
Israel offered East Jerusalem to the Palestinians in 2000 to set up as their capital, instead of accepting it, Arafat launched the intifada.
Now given these facts, if you were going to provide 'context', wouldn't you have worded it differently than the BBC?
If it had been an Israeli who would have started shooting innocent Palestinians, would there have been some air of concern and outrage in the article for these? You bet your ass there would, but not when the victims are Israeli innocents.
The closing line of the article goes A prominent Palestinian politician, Mustafa Barghouti, condemned the killing as a crime carried out by a Jewish extremist on occupied Palestinian land.
In other words, It's the fault of Israel.
This is the 'fair and balanced' BBC - the pride of a supposed civilised nation.

The Old City, in East Jerusalem, houses Jewish, Muslim and Christian sites.
East Jerusalem has been occupied by Israel since 1967. Palestinians hope to establish their capital there, but Israel claims the entire city.
Israel's annexation of the city is not recognised by the international community.
East Jerusalem is home to more than 22,000 Palestinians - Muslim and Christian - and about 180,000 Jews.

The shooting happened close to the offices of an ultra-nationalist Jewish organisation in the Christian quarter of the Old City.
Police say the man grabbed a gun from a security guard standing outside the building and shot him in the shoulder.
The man fled but was chased by another guard.
The two men fired at one another as they ran down a narrow lane and a number of bystanders were injured before the gunman was shot dead.
