When Israelis troops injure or kill Palestinian children in the course of gun battles with militants this fact usually appears in the main headline or at least in the sub heading.
Here's a couple of examples from the CBBC (Childrens) News Service:

But if it's Israeli children who are the victims then it's:
First 'Israelis' are injured, then 'brothers', and only later in the article will you find out that one of them is 8 years old. No mention of 'child' or children in this article. Clearly the BBC uses it generally for its emotive effect, but would rather avoid raising it where Israeli children are concerned.

Gaza rockets injure two Israelis
Sderot comes under attack on an almost daily basis
Israel has threatened to retaliate after two brothers were seriously injured in a rocket attack by Palestinian militants in Gaza.
The rocket, which landed in the town of Sderot, was one of around a dozen fired into southern Israel on Saturday.
During the day, Israeli planes attacked Palestinian positions thought to be used as rocket launch sites, wounding two people.
In another air strike, a Palestinian militant was killed.
The two Israeli brothers, aged eight and 19, were injured as a rocket landed yards away from where their family was running to seek shelter after warning sirens rang out to announce the attack, Israeli media reported.
"Israel will take resolute and decisive measures to protect our citizens," said Israeli government spokesman David Baker.
"We will not allow Israeli families to be victimized by Palestinian rockets in the heart of their own cities."
The town of Sderot is targeted by Palestinian rockets on an almost daily basis.
