On Friday alone, 14 rocket missiles were fired by militants from Gaza in the direction of populated areas in Israel, including the city of Ashkelon. This brings the total to 170 rockets and missiles fired into Israel in the last 2 weeks. Yet in the BBC stories today they only report on how the IDF has killed 4 Gaza militants who were firing mortars into Israel. Only near the end of the article do we read 'Scores of rockets, missiles and mortars have been fired from Gaza across the border, prompting a week-long tightening of Israel's blockade of the territory' to put a proper perspective on the raid today.
Compare this to the same story run by AP with the headline and first paragraph telling the story in a far more balanced and explanatory way '4 Gaza militants killed in retaliatory airstrike
An Israeli airstrike killed four Palestinian militants as they fired mortars from the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian officials said, just hours after another group of militants struck Israel in a separate rocket attack'
But the BBC Editors Blog tells how the media have been prevented recently from entering Gaza as a result of the increase of attacks emanating from there, even giving an example of how it has previously been used to present a distorted account of what is truly happening there.
The BBC should pay more attention to how it presents stories going on there, and instead of trying to continually put the Palestinians as victims, show how cause and effect created by them, leads to a response which no civilised society can tolerate differently. In fact Israel is made a pariah by the media and so called 'human rights' groups, if they fail to provide sustenance and power to those harming it.
