On November 29, the UN's "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People" implies the obvious: the UN's wish Israel did not exist. This is the map prominently displayed at their public headquarters as Kofi Annen addresses the meeting. Even the UN partition lines marking the Jewish and Arab state which predate this do not appear. www.eyeontheun.org/view.asp?l=21&p=142#01

Considering how the UN have always treated Israel as a special case while allowing other countries to 'occupy' territory with impunity I'm not shocked.

United Nations = United Nay-Shuns - the tail is wagging the dog. I can understand the motivating ideals in having such an organization, but what exactly is being united? 70% of the member nations are dictatorships or regimes of that ilk. This makes the democracies of the world, who's ideals led to the formation of the UN, outnumbered 2 to 1. That some of these democracies side with the majority in implementing their policies is hardly surprising, but i feel they left the 'ideals' inherent in the vision of the United Nations by the wayside. How did Syria get on to the Security Council? How did Libya get to chair the Human Rights Council. This is no vision of ideals it is a sick joke, and one of the things i would like to see come out of the present conflict is a complete revision of this 'lost in space' vehicle. I hope nobody will be expecting a majority decision in the UN for this to happen.
Let's face it, if the BBC was a real media organisation upholding their charter, they would have showed this Dis-United Nations up for what it truly is.
