It has recently come to my notice that the BBC have a royal charter protecting its independance. Has any one read this? I havent, and my take on this is that its independance has been breached.
My interpretation of independance is that it is free from financial abuses, and is POLITICALLY independant.
To state the obvious, the BBC is not politically independant. Any fool can see that. Does this breach its royal charter.? If not, does that mean that the monarchy approves of the BBCS political affiliation.? How BAD is that. And weird.
Another weird aspect is that the Tory government sits back and allows the BBC to spout Labour propaganda. Why? If they wanted to put it right they can.
Can i remind the tory party that allowing the BBC to spread Labour gospel and verse nationally, day in day out, year after year, costs votes. It costs include fairness and objectivity.
Why not act? They are on everything else. Curioser and curioser. Habb.

As somebody once wrote, the BBC interpret 'Independent' as being like the newspaper of that name.
I think the answer to your question is the power the BBC wields. Nobody wants to take them on. The BBC know it which is why they abuse their charter with such impunity. Until UK citizens raise a LOUD outcry to abolish the licence fee, politicians and royalty alike will continue to kowtow.
