Radio 4's "Profile" programme of Andrew Mitchell was broadcast on Saturday 26 October 2013 and was advertised on the BBC web site as: I heard the repeat at 17:40 today (Sunday 27th). It was pure character assassination by insinuation and omission. Just one example - every time the word "whip" was used a sound effect of a physical whip was played.

Like the headlines before angled and packaged by them. Make it their 'news' and call it once again the news.

Credit where credit is due. It was refreshing last night that the BBC admitted that this has become more of a "policegate" than a "plebgate" on the BBC News At Ten, following two policemen admitting to a Commons Select Committee that they had not intended to mislead the committee a week earlier when they "used terminological inexactitudes" (UK parliamentary language for "lied") in their replies.
