The BBC's Charter and its Producers Guidelines state:
...'Due impartiality lies at the heart of the BBC. All programs and services should be open minded, fair and show a respect for truth? [BBC reports should] contain comprehensive, authoritative and impartial coverage of news and current affairs in the United Kingdom and throughout the world??
How does the BBC measure up to its charter?
What BBC won't report: Labour corp tax rise will cost jobs
The Express and Telegraph, in stories posted 7 and 12 hours ago respectively, report:
In his article, the Prime Minister launches his strongest attack to date on Mr Miliband’s economic credentials, warning that Labour poses a “clear and present threat” to bring “chaos” and “misery” to Britain if it wins the election in May.
He cites new analysis which suggests that Labour’s plan to put up corporation tax would cost the country 96,400 jobs over the next parliament. Figures from the Centre for Policy Studies, an independent think-tank, estimated the likely impact of Labour’s policy to increase corporation tax from its current low levels.
LABOUR was plunged into chaos last night as it was revealed that Ed Miliband’s plans to increase corporation tax could cost almost 100,000 jobs over the course of the next Parliament
But yet, not a word about the study, which is surely newsworthy and important for people deciding what party they will support in May, on either the Business or Politics pages of the BBC website. Instead, the Business page leads with Mandelson's claim in an interview that the party is not anti-business.
At present, the BBC is only answerable to itself in deciding its standards and coverage. How does it measure up to what you consider good quality, and impartial and unbiased reporting as required by its charter? All TV viewers in the UK are forced by law to pay for this 'service'. Do you believe that what is received truly 'serves' the society, - or merely increases the problems within it?
