I can state from the outset that I personally have no interest in football. For me there is no coincidence in the fact that the words 'Sport' and 'Support' are very similar, and I believe that Sport should support our society. I don't see that paying vast sums for footballers and giving them unreal salaries to win at all costs, where fouling and cheating are all 'part of the game', gives the right message to society.
I used to enjoy playing 'the game' when I was in school, but the modern business of football long ceased to bear any resemblance to that, or the ethics that were around at the time. British supporters are renowned for violent behaviour - all under the banner of 'Sport'.
As far as this world cup is concerned, I hope a third world country with hardly 2 pennies to rub together win it. Both for their pleasure, and to show the rich nations that their spoilt athletes have lost the plot. At the rate our country is going, it might well be a third world country sometime in the future, in the meantime our BBC and government are doing their utmost to keep it a Turd World Country.
But my main point here is to refer to the fact that did any of the football pundits that the BBC hired to 'entertain' you throughout this world series predict a loss for England against Germany? Like I say, I don't follow it, but any comments I happened to catch on news or elsewhere all proclaimed or predicted a sure win for England.
In much the same way that the purpose of BBC journalism is not to tell it like it is, but to tell you what they want you to believe, regardless of fact or reason. No doubt the pundits are already blaming players, management, or both for the loss - but it wasn't their bad judgement. For all their 'positive prediction' - the players and public clearly weren't convinced.
Truth will out!
